Swim under the winter And don't come up for air You're looking for a pattern That isn't there Hold your breath And dive down deep inside Don't look for a way back The welcome on the doormat Here is an example Here is an exception To help you go the distance Turn fact into fiction once again Oh disconnect the dots It's not easy to give them what they want Oh disconnect the dots It's not easy Where it starts is where it stops Swim under the winter And seek out all the pieces In wide and narrow places Document the features of it all Oh disconnect the dots It's not easy to give them what they want Oh disconnect the dots It's not easy Where it starts is where it stops Swim under the winter

about

This single, out on Lost Map's PostMap Club (go to lostmap.com/club to join), is about making a decision to approach a problem from a different angle. “You’re looking for a pattern that isn’t there”. Staring at long shadows in the afternoon sunlight and accepting the possibility of feeling better and rediscovering simple joys. Winter being as much filled with the promise of light as it is with darkness.

Sonically, it highlights the intertwined vocals of Mike and Laura, set against a backdrop of jangling guitars, glitchy synths and a steady pulsing rhythm - the outro breaking into a hypnotic trance, all vocal echos and looping guitar lines.

Compliments of the season!

Love,

Firestations x

Lewis says (about Beneather Remix): "I mangled the original through some half-chewed tape loops - channelling Low & Jefre Cantu-Ledesma writing a slowjam together."
