Meanwhile Gardens EP

Meanwhile Gardens' is the second EP from East London based Firestations, and they have yet to fail in their promise to deliver four EPs during 2012.

This release picks up where 'Deletions' (released in March) left off, but also expands their trusted sonic palette of alt-folk and dream-pop into more overt pop territory. This is a summer EP and, though there are still darker moments, there is sense of unbridled joy creeping into these newer tracks.

There is a love of indie pop greats like Herman Dune, Sparklehorse, and the Broken Family Band very much in evidence here, and this is combined with the angsty yearning of artists like Low, Nick Drake and Elliott Smith. The Line of Best Fit have said: “Mike's voice often carries a subtle hint of weariness and yearning, which affects even the otherwise relatively buoyant opener … a mildly unsettling tone underscores much of what is to follow, but this is always tempered by the warm and lazily inviting way Firestations go about their music”.

Listening to these songs you quickly find the country harmonies, fuzzed up guitar solos and delicate electronic soundscapes fitting together as a coherent whole, and this lends Firestations a unique and eclectic sound.
